The Latino Learning Center is one of the principal Latino organizations in the Greater Houston area providing educational services to our community. The LLC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit ed ucational and human support services organization serving the community, emphasizing adult education and services to the elderly, veterans, and disabled.

The Latino Learning Center, Inc. (LLC) recently held its Humanitarian Awards Luncheon celebrating women CEOs. The organization presented awards to leaders from across the city. Superin tendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney was among the recipients of the Humanitar ian Award. The LLC bestows the Humanitarian Awards to individuals or companies credited with outstanding work in endeavors that promote social, philan thropic, and humanitarian work. LLC bestowed awards in eight catego ries and five special recognition awards. The MacArthur High School Generals and Lady Generals each finished in first place in their respective divisions at the District 14-6A Cross Country Meet, held in the fall at Lone Star College-North Harris. For the Generals, it was their 14th straight district title. The boys and girls teams are under the direction of head coach Patrick James and assistant coaches Kelly Silha and Michael Peraza. By winning district titles, both teams advanced to the Region II Cross Coun try Meet. They were joined at regionals by the Nimitz and Eisenhower boys teams, and the Aldine girls team. The Nimitz boys finished second at district, while the Eisenhower boys finished in third place and the Aldine girls team finished in third place. The Generals team consisted of Sebas tian Ayala, Joshua Calderon, Johnny Chavez, Eduardo Espinoza, Jamie Mar tinez, Andres Ramirez, Ray Romero and Abeiro San Juan. The Lady Generals team consisted of Alejandra Espinoza, Joselin Gonzalez,

Goffney received the 2022 Humani tarian Award in the category of Philan thropic in Education. Rodolfo Gonzalez is president and CEO of Latino Learning Center, Inc. He lauded Goffney and stated that the award “is a well-deserved acknowledgment of her contribution in ensuring that our city remains diverse and with opportunities for everyone in our communities. It also represents gratitude for your support and compassionate commitment to our community in this category.” This year’s theme paid tribute to great women leaders, executives, CEOs,
