Using InDesign Manual 2025

ClikArt Walsworth offers a complete selection of clip art called ClikArt for your use. There are three types of ClikArt: color, grayscale (black and white with shades of gray) and line art (black and white with no shades of gray). Most artwork that appears in color has a grayscale version. Some of the art has line art versions. They are divided into categories such as accents, animals, mascots and food. All pieces of ClikArt have been saved with a clipping path, which means that if you place the artwork on a background, the background will show around the edges of the artwork and through any portion of line art that appears white. Once placed, you have the option of enlarging a piece of ClikArt up to 150% of its original size. Included with Walsworth’s ClikArt is a selection of ColorTex Textures that can be used as backgrounds or accents for your page. ColorTex Textures can be placed on a spread using the same process as placing a piece of ClikArt, and can be cropped to fit. Each piece of ClikArt and thumbnail versions are located on Support Download. Portrait Center Portrait Center is a plug-in created by Walsworth that allows you to import, view, edit and flow your portrait images on to the page. Portrait Center contains all the tools for adding your portrait CD, editing student information, adjusting layout settings and flowing portraits in one palette. After Walsworth’s Enhancements are installed, the Portrait Center palette will open automatically the first time a user opens InDesign and it will appear below the Control Center. If Portrait Center is closed at any time, it can be found and reopened under the Window menu.

Take a tour and get familiar with these tools, as they are helpful for speeding along the creation of your yearbook. Libraries Core Libraries and Express Libraries are two important design options for InDesign users. The Core Libraries are comprised of pre-designed templates that can be used in your yearbook as-is, or changed to meet your needs. Express Libraries are like portions of layouts. Instead of complete layouts, you can use headline treatments, scoreboards or photo groupings. Express Libraries use an InDesign feature called a library to store these predesigned page elements. There are eight different Express Libraries: Element Express, Portfolio Express, Headline Express, Quote Express, Info Express, Ad Express, Sports Express and People Express.
