Terms to Know • Bleed Extension of images, graphics or backgrounds beyond the trim marks on the edges of a page, leaving no white margin in a printed book • ClikArt A collection of artwork available to Walsworth customers for use on their yearbook pages, comprising line art, grayscale and color artwork, as well as ColorTex Textures that can be used for backgrounds • Clip art Professionally prepared art that is cut out and used as part of a design, such as advertising logos, mascots or symbols • Colorspace A system used to describe all available colors graphed on a set of axes, such as RGB, CMYK and grayscale • Digital image An image that is either scanned or taken with a digital camera and can be manipulated using a program such as Adobe Photoshop, or placed on your page electronically • Folder An icon on the computer desktop that looks like a manila file folder; used to hold documents, programs and other information • Ladder A yearbook blueprint that helps you plan your book by listing the contents of each page • Linked text Text that flows across two or more columns but is still connected; identified when selected by a plus (+) sign in the windowshade • Mugs Student portraits with names and other identifying information under them • Panels Student photos that are drawn in columns and rows with identifying information to the outside of each row • Resolution In digital imaging, refers to the number of pixels or dots that make up an image; an image’s resolution must be high enough to reproduce well on the printed page • Spread Two facing pages designed as one unit; also called double-page spread
