The Power of Connections

OPERATION ROUND UP TRUSTEES BY YEAR APPENDIX IV

When created in 1997, the original Operation Round Up trustees drew numbers to determine the length of their first term. For the seven seats, there were two (2) one-year terms, two (2) two-year terms, and three (3) three-year terms. Starting in 1999, trustees were appointed for three-year terms, with a maximum of two terms (six years). The trust consisted of nearly all business and/or community leaders who volunteered to serve this unique organization. The group didn’t have much knowledge about the program, and most were skeptical at first, as it was unlike any other group in which they had been involved. But after a few months, comments changed from, “I don’t know if I have time for this commitment and may not be able to serve a full term,” to “This is one of the most gratifying and worthwhile things I have ever done. Has it already been six years?” To not serve both three-year terms or serve only a partial term (denoted below by *) was usually due to death, moving out of the area, or a conflict of interest, such as being elected to the CREC Board of Directors.
