But technology allows Cuivre River Electric to restore service more quickly and efficiently than ever. “If there’s an outage, we know that a meter is out of signal pretty quickly, and our mapping software will pinpoint exactly where the outage is,” says AMI Coordinator Neal Harrell. Members can report outages by calling the general phone number and accessing the interactive voice response (IVR) system, which will search the CREC database for the caller’s phone number. If a match is found, the caller will be asked to verify the service address, and the outage will be reported. If a phone number from an incoming call can’t be matched, the caller can leave a voice message about the outage. Once an employee confirms the account details, the outage will be entered into the outage
