During Stone’s seven-month tenure as a meter reader, CREC purchased a fleet of trucks for team members to use on their daily routes. Technology also evolved from using paper map books with notes to help locate meters to a real-time online system that provided ongoing guidance and resources to meter readers. “The job wasn’t that challenging unless you got lost,” admits Stone. “The most important note you could get was when to watch out for a dog.”
