consistent revenue stream, making our rates more stable for everyone,” says Hurd. “And because of the suburban area that we’re in, we’re able to serve some unique loads that electric co-ops don’t always get to serve.” Located just a few minutes from St. Charles County in Wright City, Gateway Industrial Centre was initially developed by CREC in 1995. “We located 103 acres of property on that eastern edge with willing sellers and got a commitment from the City of Wright City for annexation and industrial zoning adjacent to other large commercial and industrial projects,” recalls Hurd. Today, the industrial park is home to eight manufacturing facilities. It’s located near two major electric substations and provides three-phase underground electrical service throughout the development.
