NOTICE OF JUDICIAL VACANCY
The Judicial Nominating Commission seeks applicants to fill a vacancy for the position of Justice of the Supreme Court, Judicial District 4, which is comprised of Congressional District 3 as constituted on January 8, 2019. This vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Yvonne Kauger, effective December 1, 2024. To be appointed to the office of Justice of the Supreme Court, an individual must have been a qualified elector of the applicable Supreme Court Judicial District for one year immediately prior to his or her appointment. Additionally, the individual shall have attained the age of 30 years and have been a licensed attorney, practicing law within the State of Oklahoma, or serving as a judge of a court of record in Oklahoma, or both, for five years preceding his/her appointment. Applications must be submitted to the Chairman of the JNC no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024. Applications may be mailed, hand delivered or delivered by third party commercial carrier. If mailed or delivered by third party commercial carrier, they must be postmarked on or before December 20, 2024, to be deemed timely. This vacancy is created due to the appointment of the Honorable Donna Dirickson to District Judge on November 13, 2024. To be appointed an Associate District Judge of Custer County, an individual must be a registered voter of Custer County at the time (s)he takes the oath of office and assumes the duties of office. Additionally, prior to appointment, the appointee must have had a minimum of two years’ experience as a licensed practicing attorney, or as a judge of a court of record, or combination thereof, within the State of Oklahoma.
