The First Hundred Years: Clearwater Yacht Club, 1911-2011

This event is typical of the spirit of the fun-loving CYC Cruisers who carry the burgee and CYC’s reputation as the friendliest little club on the west coast of Florida to yacht clubs and marinas around the area, state, and world. In the words of singer-songwriter Gary Gray (poet laureate of the CYC Cruisers):

They hail from Clearwater on the west coast of Florida, a great bunch of cruisers are they. They get together for good times and pleasure; they like to party and play Cruisin for pleasure is their buried treasure Friendship and good company All in good measure; completely at leisure The Cruisers of ole CYC Ah, the Cruisers of ole CYC They cruise to the islands, leaving the highlands; bound for the wide open sea Past Fort Desoto, towards Boca Grando Maybe as far as the Keys. Cruisin for pleasure is their buried treasure Friendship and good company All in good measure; completely at leisure The Cruisers of ole CYC Ah, the Cruisers of ole CYC

Mates and their skippers; no bedroom slippers These are adventuresome souls. Seeing new places with smiles on their faces, steering well clear of the shoals Cruisin for pleasure is their buried treasure Friendship and good company

All in good measure; completely at leisure The Cruisers of ole CYC Ah, the Cruisers of ole CYC
