More consumers seekingnon- GMO labeled foods; BabyBoomers, Millennials actively avoidingGMfoods A 2017 survey by the food industry-funded International Food Information Council found that 73 percent of consumers seek non-GMO labels because they believe these foods are healthier, safer, or better for the environment. Another 21 percent said they seek non-GMO labels because they don’t have enough information on GMO foods, and 20 percent said they are unsure about GMO foods. About 35 percent said they seek non-GMO labeled food because they prefer to eat organic foods.

The survey also found that about 27 percent of respon- dents said that non-GMOwas one of the labels they regularly seek on food packages. About 25 percent said the same thing about the organic label. About 16 percent said they eat at restaurants because they advertise their foods and bever- ages as non-GMO, while 14 percent said they ate at restau-
