The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is the only interactive museum where visitors can explore a legendary aircraft carrier, the first space shuttle, theworld’s fastest jets,andasecretsubmarine.Intrepid isalsooneof themost exceptional event spaces inManhattan. Opened in 1982, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum welcomes more than one million visi- torsper year andhostsnumerousevents. Intrepid hosts both corporate and social functions, from television and film shoots to fashion shows on the Flight Deck; corporate launches, festivals, galas, movie premieres, press events, trade shows, and bar mitzvahs on the Hangar Deck; and concerts, charity walks, and parties on the Pier. At Intrepid, youwill findspacesbothuniquely historic and modern to accommodate all of your event needs. Our experiencedandknowledgeable staff will assist you in creating a memorable and seamless event. World-renowned Restaurant Associates is the exclusive caterer for the Intrepid Museum.

The Michael Tyler Fisher Center for Education

Our Education Center offers modern and sophisticated event spaces with fabulous views and amenities, including the Fantail, the Great Hall, and the VIP Room. The center is primarily used for educational programming during weekdays but is available for your evening or weekend event. Withmanage- mentapproval,daytimeeventsmaybescheduledwheneducationalprograms are not in session. The Fantail Begin your event on the Intrepid Fantail, located at thewesternmost point of the ship. It is an ideal setting for outdoor cocktails beforemoving upstairs to the Great Hall for dinner. The Great Hall The Great Hall is the perfect space for seated dinners with floor-to-ceiling views of theHudsonRiver. It is also ideal formeetings, offering clients full use of our state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, includingdrop-downscreens, built-inLCDprojectors,andblackoutscreens. Airwallscreateseparatemeeting spaces. The center also includes theVIPRoomand three classrooms that can beusedasbreakout rooms, for coat check, or green rooms for stagedevents. Allison and Howard Lutnick Theater The Hangar Deck also features the Allison and Howard Lutnick Theater, a 247-seat,state-of-the-artmultimediavenue.ThetheaterfeaturesaDolbydigital cinema system, including a DSP 100 show player with 5.1 surround sound, Blu-Ray, DVD players, and PC/Mac inputs for PowerPoint presentations. The theater isperfectforscreenings,pressevents,orguestspeakerpresentations.

Hangar Deck Running the length of the ship, the Hangar Deck (the main interior deck of Intrepid) is divided into three halls – Hangars 1, 2, and 3 – all featuring the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum’s exhibits, including aircraft. Hangar 1 and 2 Guests enter themuseum inHangar 1, andwithinHangars1and2, you’ll find great spaces for smaller events, cocktails receptions, seated dinners for up to 60 people, registration, and coat check. Hangar 3 Themost spacious andflexibleof our halls, Hangar 3offers theopportunity to host seateddinners for up to1,000withclear site lines throughout the space and is optimal for staging award shows, galas, meetings, presentations, or trade shows. Withmore than 12,000 square feet of event space, Hangar 3 is a unique combination of raw space and museum ambience. Built-in special event lighting, drop-down screens, and sound-system capabilities ensure a great experience for every event. Flight Deck Running the lengthof three football fields, theFlight Deck is thequintessential outdoor venue. Host your event among Intrepid’s stellar aircraft collection with majestic views of Manhattan and the Hudson River, from the Statue of Liberty to the George Washington Bridge. The Flight Deck offers countless event possibilities, including cocktail receptions, concerts, photo or film shoots, all withdirect access to theGreat Hall for VIPs, guests, andperformers. Pier Our Pier offers endless event possibilities, with direct access to the Hangar DeckandFlightDeck.LetyoureventsoarbeneaththeBritishAirwaysConcorde locatedat thewest endof thePier. WithWi-Fi andpower, our Pier offers clients and vendors a versatile and park-like space for corporate picnics, concerts, festivals, seated dinners, andmany other types of outdoor events.

L ocated on the Flight Deck, the Space Shuttle Pavilion showcases the space shuttle Enterprise , theprototypeNASA orbiter that paved the way for the space shuttle program. This unique space is the only place in theNortheast inwhichyou canhost your cocktail reception underneath a real space shuttle. The pavilion also features 17 dynamic exhibit zones that displayartifacts, photographs, audio, andfilm about Enterprise and space exploration. Tours of the Space Shuttle Pavilion can be added as an additional feature to your event.

What are the costs of renting the venue?

Do you have any exclusive vendors? Restaurant Associates is the exclu- sive caterer at the Intrepid Museum. From time to time, there may be other exclusive vendors, which Intrepid will communicate upon initial inquiry. Intrepid also offers a preferred vendor list for any of your other event needs. Can more than one event occur at the same time? The Special Events department will determine the number of events that may occur simultaneously and will ensure that any one event will not be disrupted by another. Is tenting permitted? Tenting is permitted on the Flight Deck and the Pier. Please see our preferred vendor list in this brochure for tenting companies. Is security available for events? Intrepid security is required for each special event. Events requiring additional outside security must be approved bymanagement. Is smoking permitted at the Intrepid? New York City regulations prohibit smoking anywhere on the premises, including Pier 86. Individuals found smokingwillbeaskedto leavetheevent andthepremises.Smoking ispermitted only outside the museum complex.

Does the Intrepid provide access for persons with disabilities? The Intrepid Museum complex is ADA compliant, except for the Growler Submarine and the Concorde. Can banners, signs, or other décor be hung in the event area? Banners and signs are permitted for your event. Clients will speak to the event manager regarding specific rulesandregulations.Existingmuseum signage cannot be moved. All event signage must be removed following the event.

Rental prices are quoted upon request andbasedonspacesusedfortheevent. Additionally, in-houseproductioncosts, suchassecurity,setup,andbreakdown crews, are itemized for each event and includealllabornecessarytomakeyour event a success. How do I hold a date? The desired date of your event can be placed on hold. Once the client confirmstheevent,Intrepidwillprovide a contract. A 50-percent deposit of the total fee is required. Deposits are non-refundable. Is insurance required for events? Insurance is required for each event. Specific insurance requirements are listed in the special event contract. Rental fees are based on a four-hour event.Overtimechargeswillbe incurred for each additional hour or portion thereof. Event setup may not begin until the museum closes to the public. Exceptions may be made depending on the production and with manage- ment approval. Is there parking available for guests at the venue? Youmaycontractwithanoutsidevendor for valet parking. Thereare commercial parking lots within walking distance of Intrepid. What time can my event start and end?

Does the Intrepid have air-conditioning?

The interior of the museum and the Space Shuttle Pavilion are air-conditioned and heated.

How can we support the Intrepid Museum?

By hosting an event at the Intrepid Museum, you are providing valuable support for the programs and services we offer.
