The ROCC Poker Run to Be Held September 24 Proceeds to Go to the Recovery Outreach Community Center By Bridget Bauer T hankful for the support he and his wife received at the ROCC, Pete Williams put together a fundraiser to support the Recovery Outreach Community Center’s quest for a new roof. The ROCC is sponsoring a poker run Saturday, September 24, with the best hand winning a $500 grand prize. Entry fee is $25 with registration beginning at Cycle Connection at 9 am, and the run at 10 am and ending at 3 pm at the ROCC. “Pete and his wife, Heidi, started coming to our Wednesday spiritual life night,”Teddy Steen, executive director of ASCENT Recovery Residences, said. “When Pete went into treatment, she kept coming. They are both so grateful, and he wanted to help out.” While a poker run is usually comprised of motorcyclists, drivers of cars are also encouraged to participate. At the final stop at the ROCC, food will be provided, a 50/50 raffle will be held, and Blake Webster will perform. Prizes will be awarded at 4 pm. “I want to thank all our sponsors and our major sponsors, Downstream Casino and Frank Fletcher Toyota,” Steen said. “Also, Abernathy Roofing has donated a third of the cost of replacing the roof.” For more information, go to www.roccrun.org and see the accompanying flyer.
