It pays tribute to Aurora’s history regarding the Trail of Tears, Butterfield Stage, Civil War and Elk Horn Prairie. The project was launched through Aurora High School’s Youth Empowerment Project and the Houn’ Dawg Alumni & Outreach Center. Co-directors are Brad Boettler and Kim McCully-Mobley. This time, an interactive piece was added. Artists are Raine & Tricia Clotfelter and Diana & Hannah Estes.

Plans include flag poles, a time capsule, the historic cornerstone from the old “A”Wing, landscaping, a bench, signage and monuments to honor World War I Medal of Honor Recipient Harold Leo Turner, as well as Howard Kelley, a WorldWar I veteran and educator for whom Kelley Field is named.
