Aren’t second chances and sometimes even third chances good for everyone? Although we always want to do things correctly right away, immediate success is not always possible. It is very rare. We should embrace our human faults. Don’t simply admit failure and give up. Instead, take a deep breath, think about where you went wrong, learn from it and try it again. Take a mulligan and give yourself another chance to do something the right way that previously went wrong. After all, mulligans are about second chances and doing something again. Hey, God gives us mulligans all the time if we just ask him. Here’s a great idea! If mulligans are do-overs for bad things that happened, why can’t we have do-overs for good things that happened in our lives? Deer camp with friends or family - Mulligan! A trip my wife and I made to Glacier National Park - Mulligan! Going fishing with my grandkids - Mulligan! Deer and turkey hunting with my sons and grandkids - Mulligan! Time alone around a campfire - Mulligan! The list goes on. Sometimes life gives you a second chance, or even two. Not always, but sometimes. It’s what you do with those second chances, those do overs, that counts - Mulligan! TAKE A BREAK In this crazy world, we all need to take a break. Escape the computer. Get off social media for a while. Turn off the TV. Take a walk in the park or a hike in the woods and enjoy the nature around you. Wade a creek, fishing or not, listening to the sound of flowing water. Pitch a tent, watch the campfire flames dance and look for shooting stars. Let the outdoors refresh your body and mind. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT “You are never too old to start over. Every day is a chance to make changes to create the life we want.” - KaronWaddell GRASSHOPPERS AND BIG BLUEGILL Big bluegills feed on grasshoppers that accidentally fall in the water this time of year and will nail small artificial baits that imitate a grasshopper. Grasshopper baits should be cast near trees and bushes where grasshoppers are likely to fall in and then twitched or slowly wobbled across the top of the water to imitate a struggling insect. Of course, the real thing works well, too. Just run your hook through the back collar and cast it out with no weight so it floats on top. Leave plenty of slack so the grasshopper can kick around, naturally stirring I know it is hot and humid right now, but if you love archery deer hunting, the start of the season is September 15, and that will be here before you know it. You need to be out there right now scouting, placing deer cameras and hanging stands. You need to inventory all your clothing and equipment. Repair or replace as needed. No matter how good you think you are, you also need to practice every day. You better get ready. up the water and the big bluegill. YOU BETTER GET READY
