Joplin Public Library - 120 Year Celebration Joplin Public Library was built to be a community resource, intent on fulfilling the mission to “open tomorrow’s doors today.” At its recent milestone celebration, which marked 120 years of service, and 5 years at its current location, it was evident the library is meeting that goal. Patrons enjoyed live music, refreshments and booths at the celebration. The event also allowed patrons the opportunity to see many of the resources the library offers to Joplin and surrounding communities. In addition to a collection of over 125,000 items, the library boasts a cutting-edge Makerspace, extensive programs for all ages and numerous community meeting spaces. The library is able to successfully help the community because of the support from the people it serves and the support from organizations that serve alongside it. Many thanks for the last 120 years. We are ready for our next chapter!
