Signing Day The 2023 Missouri Future Teachers of America meeting was held on November 15, 2023 in Columbia. Over 500 students from high school chapters across the state attended and many signed letters of commitment to the teaching profession. The future of education looks bright in the hands of these young leaders!

In the early hours of December 1, 2023, La Plata Elementary was engulfed in flames, leaving approximately 160 students without a school. Classes resumed the following week at a nearby church. 15 MSTA members were impacted by the fire, suffering a loss of their classrooms. The Missouri State Teachers Foundation’s Hope Initiative donated $1,500 to help these teachers recuperate their classroom materials. “Thank you MSTA! After a total loss of our elementary school to a fire on December 1, your monetary support to our MSTA members confirms your commitment and dedication to taking care of your members,” La Plata Interventionist and CTA President Nancy Green said. “Each of us is greatly appreciative of your support and thankful to be a part of the MSTA family.” The Missouri State Teachers Foundation was created by the executive board of the Missouri State Teachers Association as a not-for-profit organization, incorporated under the laws of the state of Missouri and approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity. As such, contributions and gifts to the foundation from individuals, firms, associations, and other organizations are tax deductible from both income and estates.
