HONORS Alana Kelley (Hartville R-2) was presented the Golden Apple Award by Fox49 Ozarks and Larson & Miller Injury Law. She was surprised in her classroom by the television station and presented with a $250 gift card. Deila Ray (Mexico School District 59) received two awards from Empowering Women in Industry, due to her work as a welding instructor at Hart Career Center. She was honored with the Industry Advocacy Award and the Mentor of the Year Award. The Gysbers Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program Award recognizes Missouri school buildings that have demonstrated the commitment to be fully implemented. This prestigious award is a five year distinction and was awarded to Brenna Rich (Adrian R-3), Maria Stokes (Blair Oaks R-II) and Geoff Heckman (Platte Co. R-3). Tiffany Jones (Nixa) was named Instructional Specialist of the Year by the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). In Memoriam: Retired lifetime MSTA member Gary Weber passed away on November 3, 2022 at the age of 88. He first became a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association in 1959 and frequently contributed to School & Community magazine through fall 2022.
