UNDERSTANDING TRAUMA AND DIFFICULT BEHAVIORS RETREAT

No time for a full weekend event? Attend the one-day Understanding Trauma and Challenging Behaviors session on February 27 in Savannah. The cost for this event is $50 for members and $75 for non-members. Learn more at msta.org/events.

3rd Quarter, 2023 It is a stressful time in education. To carry out the work we want to accomplish in the classroom, we must first understand the impact of stress on the brain and our students’ basic needs. Using the principles of the Neurosequential Model and traumatology helps us to better address factors such as disruptive behavior, low motivation and other behaviors that teachers are currently seeing in their classrooms. If we learn how to reach our students, then we can teach our students. Join us April 28-30, 2023 at Bunker Hill Retreat in Mountain View for a weekend of learning and reflection. The $250 fee covers the cost of the workshop, lodging on Friday and Saturday night, three meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Participants may also earn up to two hours of graduate credit at a cost of $145.00 per hour, if interested. Attendees will: • Gain an understanding of how childhood trauma impacts learning and behavior • Understand the basic principles of the Neurosequential Model • Understand how to adjust current procedures in order to create a brain-friendly environment • Learn ways to incorporate intellectual safety into learning tasks Register at www.motea.ch/Retreat23.
