School and Community Summer 2024
SCHOOL & COMMUNITY The magazine for Missouri educators
FALL 2006
Taming the paperwork monster ● What’s next for virtual schools
As we close this significant chapter, we invite you to embark on a nostalgic journey through time. For over 100 years, “School & Community” has been a reliable companion to educators, documenting the evolution of teaching and learning. The inaugural issue of S&C was printed and bound in 1920 at a cost of 60 cents, funded by the annual membership dues of $2.00 per member. Before this, from 1917 to 1920, the association published the “Bulletin of the Missouri State Teachers Association,” a lengthier book that included official proceedings and business matters related to public education in Missouri. In this special edition, we honor our rich history by revisiting timeless articles and memorable excerpts that have shaped and inspired generations of Missouri’s teachers. It’s fascinating to see how MSTA interpreted historical moments, such as the impact of the World Wars on education and the advancement of various classroom technologies. Thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to continuing this noble publication in the digital age.
