MAPSO FAMILY FOLLIES TALENT SHOW RETURNS

Families in Maplewood can mark their calendars for the third annual MAPSO Family Follies Talent Show on Thursday, October 23rd, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at The Woodland. Organizers promise “old-school variety show charm” and “heartwarming, Waiting-for-Guffman-style quirky fun.” Tori Chickering, Director and Emcee, says, “Our Follies motto is: ‘Have fun!’” Last year’s sold-out show featured parent kid acts, a family circus, local singers and dancers, and even a roller-skating chicken. “We love acts that are quirky, creative, and unpredictable,” says Talent Coordinator Cat Delett. “We have one preference, and that’s for group acts rather than solos. The more performers, the better. We love to see multi-generational and cross-cultural groups sharing the stage.” Most importantly, the MAPSO Family Follies isn’t a competition. There are no judges or prizes. Instead, it offers a low-stakes opportunity for neighbors to showcase their talents and celebrate community spirit. “It’s so much fun. Whether you decide to be part of the show or come to see your friends and neighbors perform, you really should join us!” urges Co-producer Katy Chapman. MAPSO Family Follies thrives thanks to the efforts of Andrea Teutli, Miriam R. Perez, and Stacey Ross-Trevor from Maplewood’s Division of Arts & Culture, along with a dedicated team of volunteers. Designer Craig Stout and Follies Consultant Sybil Rodgers help bring the show’s unique vision to life. Tickets cost $10 each and are available at maplewoodartsandculture.org/follies. Doors open at 7 p.m. For more details, show photos, and FAQs, visit the Follies webpage. Families looking for laughter, creativity, and a night of pure joy will find it at MAPSO Family Follies. It’s a special experience where every star shines and the only rule is to have fun.
