MADELEINE “MADDIE” POPOWSKY Columbia High School’s Madeleine Popowsky, a dedicated 15-year-old sophomore, has made a significant impact on the field hockey scene this season. As a forward for the varsity team, Mad die has established herself as a standout player, demonstrating both skill and leadership. Having started her field hockey journey in sixth grade, Maddie has honed her abilities over the past four years. In her freshman year, she became the team’s top scorer with seven goals, earning the

title of Most Valuable Offensive Player and a spot on the First Team All Con ference. This season, she continues to shine, leading the team with two goals in just three games, contributing to their current 2-1 record. “I always strive to do my best for my team,” Maddie says. “Field hockey is not just about scoring; it’s about working together and supporting each other.” Off the field, Maddie excels academically with a 4.6 GPA, taking honors and AP classes, and particularly enjoying history. She also has a passion for musical theater and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Maddie credits her high school coach, Stephanie Rivera, for her growth as an athlete. “Coach Rivera has always been super supportive and inspires me to push my limits,” she shares. With her talent, dedication, and positive attitude, Maddie Popowsky is truly deserving of the Athlete of the Month title!
