The conversation around GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic and Wegovy touches every corner of health today. For people navigating hormonal imbalances, PCOS, metabolic dysfunction, perimenopause, midlife shifts, or lower activity, these medications can quiet relentless “food noise” and create space for change. As a holistic health dietitian, I want to be clear: GLP-1s do not offer a shortcut. They serve as a tool that supports a fresh, structured restart. People who succeed usually work with a nutrition or holistic health expert before they start. Together, they build habits that stabilize blood sugar, heal food relationships, and support metabolic health. GLP-1s reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying, but fundamentals still drive results. Eat protein at every meal, stack fiber and colorful plants, and prioritize hydration and electrolytes. Choose slow carbs, healthy fats, and
minimally processed foods. Keep a regular meal rhythm to protect energy and digestion. Move your body. Resistance training preserves lean mass and keeps metabolism robust. Gentle cardio and daily walking support insulin sensitivity and mood. Sleep seven to nine hours, keep a consistent schedule, and dim screens at night. Manage stress with breath work, sunlight, and connection; stress spikes cravings and blood sugar. Track how you feel. Notice fullness cues, bowel patterns, and energy. Address nausea or constipation early with fluids, fiber, magnesium (as appropriate), and paced eating. Build meals you enjoy, not just meals you “should” eat. GLP 1s open the door; nutrition, movement, sleep, and self-care carry you through it. Consult a licensed clinician to tailor dosing and support.
