Fran Lichtman and Randy Rabney, a dynamic couple with 34 years of partnership, made the move to South Orange/ Maplewood Area (SOMA) in 2022, driven by a desire for a community where their family could thrive without labels. Former Upper West Side residents, they were pleasantly surprised to find a welcoming environment that embraced their family dynamic. Their 24-year-old son, a college graduate who lives in Brooklyn, frequently returns home to connect with his roots and share his passion for music. Professionally, both Fran and Randy are successful realtors, but their backgrounds are rich and varied. Fran once served as a Senior Executive at Atlantic Records, even dining with rock legend David Crosby, while Randy boasts a law degree and has tried cases in front of Judge Judy. Their lives are also flavored by Randy’s culinary talent, with a well stocked kitchen that always includes a dozen organic eggs, a bottle of hot sauce, and Dijon mustard. The couple passionately supports the community, particularly valuing the Pride Festival, which they have sponsored since its inception. They cherish its family-friendly atmosphere and the opportunity it provides to advocate for youth. Among their favorite local spots are Artie’s for its seasonal corn pie and Able Baker, owned by their former Maplewood neighbors.
