HOME DESIGN “There are a lot of cool chairs in this house,” exclaimed my real estate partner Kim Kelly, as we wandered through a home during a broker open house. “There certainly is. That one’s an Eames Lounge chair and it looks fabulous in purple velvet! So classic mid-century. This is a well-curated house.”

“They did a great job putting it all together,” Kim complimented. “They certainly did. I’m sure it took a long time to find all these pieces. But that’s the beauty of it. I’m sure if you asked the homeowner about any one of these furnishings, they could tell you the story about where they found it or how they came to get it.” “You don’t get that buying everything out of a big box store,” Kim added. “Right!” I responded, “There’s a number of great shops around us to buy stuff that you’ll fall in love with.”

“What do you mean curated?” Kim asked.

“Well, it’s when you take your time and carefully hand pick each piece. Remember how I said not to forget art in a home?”

“Yes,” replied Kim, rolling her eyes.

“A well-curated home goes beyond just the art. It’s furniture and accessories too. Your couch, rugs, vases, tables, and chairs,” I said, pointing to all the beautiful furnishings that surrounded us.

“Like the Maplewood Mercantile,” said Kim.

“Exactly. They have amazing stuff there,” I added.

“And a curated home will help you fall in love with your space,” Kim said brightly. I could only smile... “
