William “Will” Spreeman, a determined 12th grader at Union Catholic Regional High School, excels as a competitive swimmer with the Scarlet Elite Swim Team. He achieved an impressive per sonal best of 4:40.05 in the 400 Individual Med ley and earned a spot at the Junior Olympics for three consecutive years. His next goal is to qualify for the prestigious Sectionals meet, encompassing states in the Northeastern Seaboard.

In addition to swimming, Will demonstrates his athletic prowess in soccer and basketball, displaying his versatility and unwavering determination. Off the field, Will maintains an impressive GPA of 3.82 and consistently achieves High Honors throughout high school. He diligently works on his col lege applications, aiming to find a school that offers a balance between his academic and swimming aspirations. Will explains, “I won’t swim competitively forever but, self-discipline is some thing that will last a lifetime.” Will draws inspiration from fellow swimmer Tyler Headley, adding, “He has great form in the water, especially butterfly. When I first met Tyler, I used to look at his times for different events by age. I use his times for each year as milestones for myself.” Will’s dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence make him a standout athlete, embodying the qualities of a true student-athlete.

ABOUT DR. BASS If one word were used to describe Dr. Wayne J. Bass, it would be “community.” As one who has served on the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce for a number of years, Dr. Bass understands the needs of the community and strives to achieve excellence with every appointment.
