OPEN HOUSE WEEK DECEMBER 11TH-15TH.

King, Jr.’s vision of the Beloved Community at its annual celebration on Monday, January 15, 2024. The event begins with a special Observance at Columbia High School (CHS) at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. The Coalition is pleased to bring back the Volunteer Fair in the CHS cafeteria at 4 p.m., immediately following the Observance. Dozens of local organizations will be on hand to provide information on opportunities for residents to get involved with community service. All local organizations are welcome to register to host a table at the Volunteer Fair by emailing Audrey.Rowe@communitycoalitiononrace.org. As the sun sets on Dr. King’s birthday, the community is invited to participate in the Luminary Project—an uplifting and inspirational close to this important celebration. Hundreds of households, businesses, township sites, and Seton Hall University display decorated candle-lit bags as a sign of solidarity with his vision. Luminary kits will be available for a donation in the weeks leading up to MLK Day at local businesses, plus there will be a decorating party for kids where they get to share their ideas about Dr. King’s message of peace.
