SOMA Living December 2022

people walked in, they figured it out quickly – we were wearing custom, matching, white leather! It was so much fun.” They two had their first child while still living in Brooklyn. She shared, “Once I got pregnant with our second, we realized it was time to move to the suburbs. Actually, Peter was the one who knew about SOMA. I grew up in South Jersey, and remembered it as being beautiful but the community was pretty homogenous. But when we looked at SOMA, it was so rich in culture, I knew right away it would work.” Fast forward to 2022, and the Quillins are thriving in Maplewood. Their three children, Joaquin (8), Valencia (5), and Lucia (3) are enjoying the schools and their friends. The kids love sports. Joaquin plays basketball at the Y with Coach Fred, and the girls love playing with his teammates’ siblings. In addition, all three enjoy professional modeling. Allison quickly explains, “It’s not about vanity. My kids are having fun while learning how to follow directions. It’s fun to see them do their own thing and having a chance to shine. They’ve done a few commercials, runway modeling, and print ads.” In the meantime, Allison is a producer for the TODAY with Hoda & Jenna on NBC . She adds, “I’m what we call an ‘NBC baby’. I started right out of college, and I’ve actually been at the same place for 17 years. The work is exciting and incredibly interesting.” She concluded, “I have no reason to look elsewhere. It’s a very, very special place.” The same can be said for SOMA and the life the Quillins share here.
