•I’ll get a new job! Those don’t sound like goals to me - they sound like recipes for failure. Research shows that 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail, and why is that? Well, eventually the chocolate cake looks too good, the bed is too warm to leave, you’re too tired from the 5am wake ups to cook dinner, and there aren’t any jobs that sound better than the one you have already. Goal setters don’t spend enough time on why their goals matter to them, or what’s getting in the way of achieving it. Most importantly, they fail to uncover what would be possible for themselves if they did achieve their goal! They don’t spend time on the internal work of cultivating their purpose in order to achieve their desired results. Make 2022 the year of purpose!
