Bravo to Daniele Merlis for her first time swimming across the Chesapeake Bay over the sum mer. Daniele conquered 4.4 miles (8000 yds) swimming against strong currents, blustery winds, surface chops and navi gating around 600 other swim mers like a pro. She completed the race in 2:12:21, snagging 2nd place in the F 50-54 age group! Daniele trained dili gently for the race (sometimes

kicking and screaming a bit), but her joy at the finish line was readily appar ent. “I was super nervous for the swim. I knew I could do the distance but re ally didn’t know what to expect in terms of conditions. Well, it brought ‘chop’ to a new level for me. But it was actually fun! I’m glad I did it and lived to talk about it!” says Daniele. This is just the beginning for Daniele! Looking forward to seeing what you will tackle - and absolutely obliterate - next!
