Brewington Plow Day

by Joe Mischka M ike Brewington of Barlow, Ky., hosted his annual plow day on a rainy Saturday in April. Despite the weather, six teamsters showed up with their draft animals to plow a plot of ground on Mike’s farm. Calvin Elder of Gates, Tenn., brought a team of Percheron geldings that once belonged to Mike, and a young team of Belgians he'd been training.

Zach and Marcy Odom of Morrison, Tenn., brought two mule teams to work on walking plows; Jason Martin plowed with three abreast of mules, two of his own and one borrowed from a friend; Michael McDaniel of Paris, Tenn., plowed with his team of Belgian/Quarter Horse crosses; and Doug Askew of Bradford, Tenn., plowed with his team of mules. And it kept raining.
