Science writer Philip Ball’s comment is in his book H2O , published in the year 2000. It reflected the general lack of understanding of water, a substance that is so central to all our lives in so many ways, and not just at a planetary level. Dr. Pollack explained in his book, “Water fills your cells – to a greater extent than you might be aware. Your cells are two-thirds water by volume; however, the water molecule is so small that if you were to count every single molecule in your body, 99% of them would be water molecules. That many water molecules are needed to make up the two-thirds volume. Your feet tote around a huge sack of mostly water molecules.” Dr. Pollack’s book was published several years after Ball’s, adding significantly to our understanding of water. Most crucially, his work has shown that water does interact with what is around it, a fact not previously well understood. He says, “Biologists, for example, often regard water as the vast molecular sea that bathes the important molecules of life. We do not picture water molecules as seriously interacting with anything.” We are now beginning to understand the implications of Dr. Pollack’s research: that water is an active participant wherever it is present. In his conference handout, Steve Diver listed 20 research papers about structured and magnetized water in agriculture, most of which are dated since 2020. Dr. McMahon points out that there is still much to learn. It’s exciting to think how our understanding of biology and agriculture will continue to evolve as we learn more about bioavailable water.
