Pottsboro Area Chamber of Commerce 2022-2023

POTTSBORO A CERTIFIED RETIREMENT COMMUNITY M ost aging adults prefer to age in place. About 76% of adults over 50 want to remain in their current home, with 70% preferring to live in their present community for as long as they can, according to a national survey of adults 18+ by AARP. Because of the wide range of assets, abilities, and needs encompassed by the older adult population, a variety of programs and activities are available to residents. The vital role of older adults in Pottsboro is evidenced by their contributions as volunteers throughout the community. The Pottsboro Library offers events, classes, information, and resources to help older adults thrive. We support the many older adults who have the time and emotional space to engage in lifelong learning, creative endeavors, and community connections. At the same time, we recognize and address the real challenges people face as they age, including social isolation, financial insecurity, digital inclusion, and declining health. The older adults we serve are as diverse as the population of Pottsboro itself. We welcome and support all older adults, in all of their circumstances and identities, in all of their hopes and dreams for the best quality of life possible. At the Pottsboro Library, we embrace aging and provide the information and programs you need to have a wonderful older adulthood. And, if you face difficulties as you age, we are here to assist you with resources to meet those challenges. We also recognize and honor the impact of one’s background and identity on the experience of aging.
