HOW TO HELP The Peoria Park District Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organiza tion established in 1997 to support the mission of the Peoria Park District. The Foundation supports the Park District by providing resources to ensure that Peoria remains a healthy and vibrant community. Both Peoria Park District and the Foundation are focused on the sustainability and stewardship of our parks, green spaces, trails, and natu ral areas with the goal of continuing to improve physical and psychological health, strengthening neighborhoods, and enhance the lives of those who live, work, and play in our community. VISION STATEMENT We will be responsible stewards of all District resources We will focus on services that make the greatest impact We will create a culture that values and supports each other, those we serve and our community.​ WHAT WE DO Founded in 1894, the Peoria Park District was the first park district formed in the state and as the oldest district in Illinois, we are proud to serve our community and set the standard for what park districts should be across Illinois … and across the country The District owns or manages nearly 9,000 acres of land that is used to provide access to green space across our network of regional and neighborhood parks. The quality of life in Peoria is significantly impacted by the Peoria Park District and its long-standing commitment to providing access to high quality parks, facilities, and programs to those who live, work or play in our District The Peoria Park District has been, and will remain, a leading force in the preservation of historical, cultural, and natural environments
