VISION Youth Music Illinois enriches and unites our community by fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts VALUES At YMI, we value excellence in performance, growth in knowledge and ability, collab oration with other community groups, creativity in our operations, community, and joy in music making DID YOU KNOW? Founded in 1965 as the Central Illinois Youth Symphony, we have had thousands of students participate in our program Many go on to study music, and some have gone on to be principal players in orchestras nationwide About half of our teaching staff

once participated in the programs at YMI! WHAT WE DO Our two string ensembles, two full orchestras, two jazz ensembles, percussion ensemble, and Suzuki School of Music offer extracurricular music education to around 225 students annually We support school music programs and collaborate with other orchestras and ensembles in Central Illinois
