Our community comes together as ONE on Saturday, May 7 at the Metro Centre for the Peoria MORE THAN PINK Walk . This signature event returns to Mother’s Day weekend and we invite you to attend in honor and in celebration of your loved ones and learn more about ALL the MORE THAN PINK pillars of our mission. ACTION : Komen empowers people to advocate for their health and the health of others, and mobilizes diverse voices for change at all levels of government. 3,778 people in Illinois advocate for breast cancer rights . RESEARCH : Komen has funded more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit (more than $1.1 billion todate), second only to the U.S. government. three research projects are currently being funded in Illinois at the University of Chicago ! CARE : Through education and access to timely, high-quality care, Komen has helped drive a 41% reduction in mortality rates since 1989. 3,800 people in Illinois seek help and information from Susan G.
