Join our Carpenter’s Club We are recruiting members to join our Carpenter’s Club! We get many requests from individuals (elderly, disabled and Veterans) in the community that need assistance with repairs around their home, a railing or ramp, fixing steps, etc. Our group will assist with these needs by helping provide the labor to complete the repairs. We are looking for individuals that have knowledge in home repairs and/or willing to work in a small group with others on projects. This new endeavor is going to take funding from the community. was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. We partner with local families who live in substandard housing. Partner Families take on a zero percent interest mortgage when their home is completed. Habitat sells our homes at the appraised value. Homes are built with Volunteer Labor. Our homes range in price from85k to 140k. Homeowner’s pay their mortgage payments directly to Habitat which include their taxes and insurance. Each homeowner must complete 250 hours of “Sweat Equity” per adult and complete educational classes on homeownership and financial literacy. Our homeowner education program is funded through the United Way Project H.O.P.E. Our homes are approximately 1000 to 1200 square feet with an attached garage. Since 1989, Habitat has built over 180 homes including four homes for Veterans.
