VISION Our vision is to honor as many of these self less, “ordinary” people who saved the world as we can by providing no cost, escorted trips to their memorials in Washington, D.C. TheHonor Flight network is a nonprofit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. We transport our heroes toWashington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. We are a completely volunteer-led organization that is dependent on financial contributions from a wide range of donors. VALUES Honoring all Veterans The Greater Peoria Honor Flight pays tribute to America’s heroes who served during World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and other more recent conflicts. Any Veteran who signed a piece of paper to serve our country is eligible for this flight, including those who served stateside, in the Reserves and during peacetime. These men and women have given so much, and it’s time we show them that their efforts are not forgotten. The Honor Flight program

is just a small token of our appreciation for those who have risked their lives for freedom. It is our way of saying to all of our veterans: We will NEVER forget. WHAT WE DO Greater Peoria Honor Flight would not be successful without the generous support of our Guardians. Guardians play a significant role on each trip, ensuring that every veteran has a safe andmemorable experience. Duties include physically assisting the veteran at the airport, during the flight and at the memorials. Honor Flight assigns a Guardian to each veteran travelingwith us. AGuardian may be a family member or volunteer. Our mission lasts one full day and is completely free for the veterans, except for any personal souvenirs. We visit the memorials in Washington, DC including, but not limited to, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Lincoln, Arlington National Cemetery and other war memorials. Honor Flight will provide food, drinks and snacks throughout the duration of the trip. The Guardian Fee is $500 and you must

complete a 30-minute training session. You will be notified approximately six weeks before the flight for which you are selected. We must have an application on file for every Guardian before they can attend an Honor Flight with a veteran. Guardians can apply to travel with a particular veteran or apply to be an at large Guardian, for a Veteran that has no one to take them. DID YOU KNOW? We have four f lights planned for this year: April 28, June 2, September 6 and October 11. Every flight we take costs nearly $90,000. We rely on the support of our entire community to make these flights a huge success.
