VISION Exploring, expanding, enlivening the fine arts, including all disciplines such as music, design and dance as well as the visual arts.
WHAT WE DO: Founded in 1962, the Fine Arts Society of Peoria began a guided series of lectures devoted to exploration of the arts. In recent years an additional focus was added with development of a community outreach program to be more inclusive of underserved people and areas of our community. In 2021 our first Creativity Fund grant helped the Art Program at Neighborhood House. We also sponsored two billboards for Sky Art Peoria, an ArtsPartners of Central Illinois program. Monthly lectures are presented at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on the second Thursday fromOctober through December and February through May. Social time begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by a one-hour lecture beginning at 10:00 a.m. Speakers come from around the country as well as Central Illinois. Occasional bus trips are planned to sites to expand the attendees’ view of the world and of the arts. Organized as a 501(c)(3) educational cor poration, funding comes frommembership dues, donations and investments in the Community Foundation of Central Illinois. We are an all-volunteer operation, with no paid staff or office space.
