VALUES At CYFS, our agency values are: Dedication to Achieving Solutions, Belief that Change is Possible, Excellence, Collaboration and Partnership, and Treating Everyone with Dignity and Respect WHAT WE DO ADOPTION We provide hope . Our Adoption Program has made a lasting important impact in the lives of children who need a forever family. Last year, 160 infants and children were adopted through our program. COUNSELING We are transforming wellbeing . Our strengths-based and goal-driven Behavioral Health & Counseling Program helps children and families sort through emotional or relational problems. 9 out 10 clients served last year in this program reported feeling better, having stronger relationships with loved ones, and were better able to cope with life stressors. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION We foster stability . The Center for Youth and Family Solutions Child Welfare is the largest in central Illinois and recognized year after year for achieving some of the best long-term outcomes for children in Illinois. Last year, we saw a concerning 10% increase in the number of children referred for our child welfare services. When a child is referred to our foster care program due to abuse or neglect, we seek relatives or caring foster families to provide a safe and loving home. We then work with parents to make the critical changes necessary to ensure they can parent their children free from abuse or neglect and provide additional support and monitoring when reunification occurs. If reunification is not a safe option, we work diligently to find a forever family through adoption or
are coping with emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges as a result of significant trauma, abuse, and neglect an opportunity to heal and learn new coping skills in a caring, therapeutic, trauma informed residential setting. YOUTH, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH We help stabilize families in crisis . Our Youth, Family and Community Outreach Services reached over 4,000 children and adults during last year- stabilizing families in crisis, preventing young people from involvement in delinquent activities, and bringing about lasting change in families by successfully diverting teens from further involvement in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems. NEW DAY SENIOR SERVICES We champion independence . A new day brings hope and our in-home counseling, volunteer companion services, and outreach to isolated older adults helps to address their mental health challenges and feelings of isolation. 99% of our clients in this program continue to live in their own homes, which helps prevent costly and premature nursing home care. DID YOU KNOW? The Center for Youth and Family Solutions received a $250,000 federal grant through AmeriCorps Seniors as part of the American Rescue Plan to help support communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. This provides an opportunity for CYFS to take an active role in developing and securing resources to assist in the COVID recovery efforts in underserved populations of Peoria and Tazewell counties. Our priority is recruiting 100 volunteers who will provide relief support to local health departments and also to assist our food banks, food pantries and agencies providing meals to individuals in neighborhoods experiencing a lack of food resources due to the pandemic. For more information on this program, contact our Jenny Lee at (309) 868-3957.
