Our mission is to help all people – women, men, and children – live free from violence and abuse.

VISION Our vision is to build a safe and peaceful community. VALUES OUR VALUES AT CFPA ARE: Caring – to be considerate of others and act with goodwill, forethought and compassion. Collaborative – to value the ideas and resources that come from others and be willing to form partnerships to enhance the effectiveness of our work. Innovative – to be forward-thinking and progressive. Knowledgeable – to gain wisdom and expertise in one’s field and continually seek learning opportunities that expand or enhance that expertise. Professional – to adhere to our Code of Ethics and stay true to our Mission and Vision. Resourceful - to maximize all we have and what we do so that we give good value in our services, programs and activities. Respectful - to honor every person’s dignity and worth and to protect their right to safety, privacy and confidentiality. Trustworthy - to be honest, dependable, reliable and accountable. WHAT WE DO At the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA), we are advocates for survivors of abuse in Central Illinois. We are therapists, caseworkers, counselors, speakers,

trainers, crisis managers, leaders and community educators. We believe everyone deserves peace, every day, everywhere, any time—at home, in the workplace, at school and out in the community. A pioneer in providing services to victims of violence, Center for Prevention of Abuse has grown from a single rape crisis hotline started in 1975 to a highly respected statewide leader in working to end abuse and break the cycle of generational violence. CFPA provides free and confidential services for survivors of abuse and is the only agency authorized by the State of Illinois to provide a combination of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual abuse, as well as adult protective services. Services include case management, therapy, counseling, crisis intervention, Orders of Protection, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, education to victims and their families, and more. Annually, CFPA serves nearly 6,000 individuals affected by violence and abuse. CFPA offers school-based abuse prevention programming to students pre-K through college age, reaching nearly 36,000 young people each year. Through these activities, plus community presentations and trainings, CFPA lives out its mission to help everyone live free from violence and abuse. DID YOU KNOW? For every dollar received, Center for Prevention of Abuse applies 91% of that donation directly to the funding of our mission-centered programs, while the remaining 9% is used to fund activities that provide indirect support to those programs.

HOW TO HELP CFPA is always looking for passionate and compassionate individuals to join our mission of helping all people live free from violence and abuse. From attending our special events, to volunteering your time, to monetary gifts and in-kind donations, there are many ways you can have a positive impact on those we serve. We are thankful for our longtime supporters, community partners and dedicated staff for their help in creating and maintaining a safe place for survivors. CFPA has a number of volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals and a list of donation needs on our website. For information about volunteering or donating, please visit centerforpreventionofabuse.org or call (309) 691-0551.
