Peninsula In Passage

Chris Jones Delegate S. Chris Jones, represents the 76th Legislative District and is no stranger to rural small town living. He grew up, the son of a pharmacist and businessman, in Chuckatuck. He joined the Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department before he graduated from John Yeates High School in 1976. Ten years later he launched his political career representing the Chuckatuck borough on the Suffolk City Council. From there he rose to mayor in 1992 and has been in the General Assembly since 1998. Jones is also the President and Pharmacist of Bennett’s Creek Pharmacy and has watched the development of North Suffolk from both perspectives.

Jones opened Bennett’s Creek Pharmacy in 1985 in a small storefront on Route 17 and moved in 1995 to his larger location just down the road from the old store. He’s seen rooftops spring up across the North Suffolk peninsula and traffic jam up where it never did before. Jones says -

The never-ending blur of change makes it hard sometimes to hold on to the ‘good-ol’ things, the constant things. However, this community and its people are consistency for me. No matter how much time I spend away in Richmond, where I’m privileged to represent our city, I am always welcomed home by those I love and those who encourage me. Classmates and teachers at John Yeates High School helped me to grow. Friends, family and neighbors helped me build a business that owes a great part of its success to 28 years of well-appreciated support. I’m greeted by fond memories wherever I look and make new ones with every day. Fresh and exciting developments around the area excite me and remind me of how change is necessary for growth. Thankfully, the most important things - genuine relationships - remain constant.
