Peninsula In Passage

Conservation and environmental preservation are important to Lawson and East West Communities who have earned awards for their environmental stewardship, calling it “the right thing to do.” Lawson recalls that one of the last city personal property stickers issued by the City of Suffolk depicted a large waterfront gazebo the developer had built for residents’ use in The Riverfront. The photo selection was a surprise to Lawson and a concern to environmental authorities who told Lawson the sticker showed that the gazebo was not built at mean low tide and had to come down. East West appealed on the basis that hurricanes had shifted the shoreline since the gazebo was constructed. They won and so did the residents - the gazebo still stands.
