Elizabeth “Liz” Blackman Eberwine Johnson grew up in Port Norfolk and graduated from Wilson High School in Portsmouth in 1954. She was married to Bruce Eberwine. I was one of the lucky ones from Portsmouth invited to come to the Suffolk 100 Club dances that were held at FOP club on the river in downtown Suffolk. I met Bruce as a blind date on his boat and got married in July 1956 when he graduated from Virginia Tech. I had two years at Longwood State Teachers College. His job was in agricultural chemicals and we traveled and lived in New York, California and Montana. Then we moved back here and Bruce died in 1996. I married Vann Johnson in 2001.
