Peoria Heights-based KDB Group announces the launch of its Peoria Modern website (peoriamodern.com) chronicling and celebrating the best in central Illinois designandarchitecture, along with the visionaries who made it happen. KDB Group, entrepreneur and philanthropist Kim Blickenstaff’s local development firm, is inviting nominations for other notable structures. Among those recognized already are the Peoria Civic Center (architect Philip Johnson), the Motherhouse in Woodford County near Germantown Hills (architect Cletis Foley), St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria (architect Frederick Dunn), Wildlife Prairie Park and the Peoria Heights Village Hall (architect Richard Doyle).
Peoria native Theodore Hoerr , founding principal of Manhattan based urban design firm Terrain Work, was recognized this month by Landscape Architecture Magazine for his work on the proposed InterPlay Park project in Peoria, which envisions a park constructed above I-74 as it slices through Peoria’s Downtown. The Morton Chamber of Commerce acknowledged the work of Amanda Miller with its Volunteer of the Year Award and Elizabeth “Liz” Meier with its Distinguished Service Award at its 2022 Annual Meet Up.
The award-winning documentary photographer Steve Simon is coming to WTVP for a world premier screening of his television special set in Japan on March 3 and a photography workshop on March 5, while also participating in fundraising efforts for the public television station.
