A homecoming for the new activities director, Mr. Werner

to what someone is saying. However, he is more than just that. Mr. Werner is the hired activities director for Appleton North and his first year as the AD has been one heck of a fun time for him. “It is so good to be back. The students have been so welcoming and kind.” It has been a homecom- ing for him as well. Before he took the job as the AD for North, Werner held the same position at Neenah. He was the North Boys Soccer coach before that too. “It is so good to be back. The students have been so welcoming and kind,” said Werner. “I am thrilled to be back at Appleton North and look forward to many years to come!” Interacting with the student body is one of his favorite parts of the job. Werner said, “I enjoy meeting the students

and watching them have a chance to do what they are passionate about. Whether that is a club, athletics, forensics/ debate, theatre, band/orches- tra/choir, etc.” “I love that I get to have a homeroom again and spend some more face-to-face time with students.” There is more of a focus on all activities, not just sports. While he loves interacting with the fans on the sidelines for North’s sporting events. Werner does more than just that. “I love that I get to have a homeroom again and spend some more face-to-face time with students,” said Werner. One problem that faces Mr. Werner is the lack of school spirit at sporting events. “I think we have an awesome student body, but I’d love to see more support of each other within the school.” He added,

“I’d also love for us to develop a school culture in which we take more pride in our teams and cheer them on rather than just bashing our opponents or the officials.” The changes will not happen overnight though. With the help of cur- rent and future students huge changes could be made. “My goal is to try to make progress each year on the school spirit,” Werner said. “I want to improve each and every year on my ability to best support our students, teachers, coaches, and advi- sors!” Werner said. “I want to continue to try to have the courage to do what is right for our school and our students.” Having Mr. Werner as the “I want to improve each and every year on my ability to best support our students, teachers, coaches, and advisors!”

AD for Appleton North is very exciting. He is very passion- ate about every member of the student body and he wants to make Appleton North a great place to be at for students, coaches, parents, etc. One final note fromMr. Wer- ner is a quote that he lives by: “Success is never final; Failure is never fatal; Courage is what counts.” He wants to see that from the student body as well. Next time you hear Mr. Wer- ner overly excited on the an- nouncements, it is to get your attention, to keep you in the know, and to get the student body of over 1,800 students excited and fired up!

You may simply know him as the guy who is excited to bring you announcements re- garding North’s sports teams in the afternoons. Yelling into the PA system is just one way Mr. Werner tries to get the stu- dent body excited, even if it is ultimately so you will listen By Kyle Hoffenbecker Mr. Werner, Appleton North’s new activities director.
