ACCREDITED COMPANIES
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
NETA Accredited Company membership is tailored for third-party, independent firms involved in full-service testing, analysis, and maintenance of electrical power systems. This includes low-voltage, medium-voltage, and high-voltage distribution, substation, and generation equipment.
1. The company must be a full-service electrical testing and maintenance company performing 70% of the related services listed in the Contents section of the most recent NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Specifications. 2. A minimum of 75% of the company’s revenue must come from electrical testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical materials, devices, appliance, installations, and systems. 3. The company is a legal entity with its own financial statements and its own separate Taxpayer ID number. 4. The company performs the day-to-day operational management functions of a stand-alone business, having its own employees and sharing no operational management with any affiliated company. 5. An affiliated company shall not exert influences that could create a conflict of interest for independent/ unbiased testing. 6. The company has been engaged in business for a minimum of two years. 7. T he company must operate from a commercial location with public signage.
8. The company has a minimum of one Registered Professional Engineer with a discipline in electrical engineering, either on staff or under contract, to review engineering reports and studies. 9. The company must provide unbiased testing services. This is accomplished by limiting testing services for acceptance, commissioning, and start-up on systems or equipment designed, manufactured, or installed by an affiliated company. This limitation shall not exceed five percent of gross revenues. 10. The company shall maintain the requisite number of certified technicians /field testing personnel at a NETA Level 3 or 4. 11. The company must market itself separately from any affiliated company. At a minimum, this is accomplished by preventing the company from sharing advertising and promotional materials with an affiliated company. This includes but is not limited to websites, brochures, stationary, business cards, test sheets and reports, billboards, vehicles, and/or any other method of disseminating information about the company to the public.
COMPREHENSIVE ACCREDITATION NETA maintains a comprehensive accreditation process that certifies the company and its individual technicians to assure consumers of both the qualifications of the company as well as the individual technician. The qualifications of each NETA Accredited Company and its technicians are reviewed on a regular basis.
SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION
APPLICATION & REVIEW • Application submitted to NETA office • Full review of application by staff, 3 committee volunteers and Membership Chair • Site visit performed at company headquarters • Application recommendation presented to Board of Directors by Membership Committee Chair based on site visit APPROVED WITH EXCEPTIONS • Applicant is approved with noted exceptions and will be required to submit evidence of compliance in the identified areas within a specific time frame • If all requirements are met prior to Phase Two, the company advances directly to Phase Three in which the company begins to certify the requisite number of technicians TECHNICIAN EXAM CERTIFICATION • Board has approved company to begin testing technicians for NETA Certification • NETA exams are administered by third-party testing administrator • The applicant company is considered accredited when the requisite number of technicians are certified at a NETA Level 3 or 4 and all other NETA Bylaws have been met
