Attorney Janette Krutzfeldt Jones passed away unexpectedly within the safety of her home on July 5, 2025, in Miles City, Montana. As the eldest child, she was a leader early on and continued to lead throughout her life. Janette

graduated from Swarthmore College with double majors in Economics and Public Policy af ter which she attended law school at the University of Montana earning her Juris Doctorate with honors. Following graduation, Janette worked in Bozeman and Billings eventually returning “home” to Miles City where her father’s practice quickly became “Krutzfeldt & Jones, LLP.” Janette practiced in her hometown for 30 years, 17 years as a sole practitioner before, under her leadership, expanding the firm twice to meet the growing legal needs of the Eastern Montana community. Through the years, she narrowed the scope of her practice to focus primarily on corporate, real estate, probate and estate planning, though she was always willing to undertake other matters to meet the needs of her existing clients. Janette was a consummate professional and pushed the members of her practice to embody not only legal excel lence, but meticulous attention to detail. These efforts remain the signature of Krutzfeldt and Jones, LLP, work product. Personally, Janette was a beloved wife, mother, daugh ter and sister. Her love of her family is her greatest legacy which will survive and grow through her memory. She was unfailingly devoted to her family, friends, and enjoying all the facets of her incredibly rich life. She loved travel and brought her zest for finding the best parts of life everywhere she went. She was an active member of many public service organizations including Rotary, the Miles City Foster Care Program Board, Meals on Wheels, and 4- H. She led by example through her commitment to public service to make her community a better place.
