Lotte New York Palace, Jewel Suite by Martin Katz NEWYORK

Deftly blending the old and the new, Lotte New York Palace occupies both a landmark 19th-century mansion and a 55-story modern tower in the middle of Manhattan. New York’s fi rst fi ve-star hotel, it overlooks St Patrick’s Cathedral, and the ever-fashionable Fifth Avenue is just a block away. The Jewel Suite, found on the 20th fl oor, is quite the gem (excuse the pun) — it was designed in collaboration with renowned jeweler Martin Katz. The 5,000-sq-ft triplex suite’s sumptuous decor is inspired by Katz’s love of architecture, fi ne art, jewel tones, wine and rare cars — upon entering the suite’s grand two-story salon, a cascading chandelier spills from above. Guests of the suite get a number of extras, too, like a Maybach car service and a diamond ring designed by Katz himself.

Hotel Bel-Air, part of Dorchester Collection, Presidential Suite LOS ANGELES

Cosseted by a 12-acre estate complete with a tranquil lake and blooming garden, Hotel Bel-Air has been providing respite for rock stars, Hollywood icons and dignitaries since 1946. If there is a suite to book, it’s the Presidential Suite (just ask King Charles III, who claimed he slept better here than in any other hotel in the world). Less of a suite, more of a sprawling compound — measuring 6,775 sq ft — it has its own swimming pool just begging for languid days in the California sunshine and multiple alfresco areas including a Spanish-style courtyard with a Jacuzzi. Inside, fi nd a dining room with hand-painted walls and space for 10, living room, wet bar, and a full kitchen with professional appliances. The master bedroom includes a king-size bed and the master bathroom has a heated limestone fl oor. If it’s good enough for King Charles… From $18,000 per night. Four Seasons Resort Lanai, Alii Royal Suite LANAI, HAWAII

Lanai is considered one of the few remaining ‘untouched’ islands in Hawaii and is decidedly underdeveloped — meaning it’s a paradise for o ff -the-beaten-track adventures from horseback riding to 4x4 excursions. Four Seasons Lanai sits on a blu ff overlooking the bliss-inducing Hulopoe Bay; the resort’s laid-back, ethereal luxury has featured in many issues of Elite Traveler . The top key (or, more speci fi cally, the top wristband — the resort uses them in place of keys) is the resplendent Alii Royal Suite. The 3,984-sq-ft, two-bedroom suite has a sleek decor favoring neutral tones with glimmering gold and natural materials. There’s an open-concept living and dining space, formal sitting area, hot tub, media room and a library, but you’ll want to spend time out on one of the three open-air lanais to keep an eye out for marine life frolicking in the Paci fi c. From $21,000 per night. Contact Maureen Flood, director of reservations, maureen. fl ood@fourseasons.com, +1 808 509 2924, fourseasons.com
