Million Air Summer 2022
MILLION AIR
Take o ff
Welcome aboard, and welcome to the world of Million Air! At Million Air, our focus is on the impact we have on our customers’ lives and on our communities. This drives every decision we make, from designing amenities in a new FBO to transitioning to battery powered ground power units (GPUs). The customer experience consideration comes naturally to us and our customer-centric employees. Our days feel fuller anticipating customers’ needs and facilitating their seamless travel. The more challenging target is driving environmental change in our industry. We all know the aviation industry is slow to evolve. With the mass consumption of fuel and slowly advancing aircraft upgrades, we are light years behind where we want to be. We recognize there are two sides to general aviation’s opportunities to reduce carbon in the immediate future, not only by providing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to our carbon-reduction committed customers, but also ensuring Million Air is focused on carbon-reduction e ff orts at its own facilities. Million Air is excited to announce a network strate g y to control, reduce and o ff set its carbon emissions at all network-wide locations by the end of 2023. The commitment re fl ects our commitment to becoming a more sustainable organization and better stewards of the environment. We have two locations that have achieved carbon net zero, Million Air White Plains and Million Air Burbank. We fi rst ran a carbon assessment of each facility, then created a carbon reduction plan. Million Air is continuing to implement signi fi cant upgrades to reduce emissions of the FBO operations. We have started with converting campuses to natural gas, incorporating a large portion of natural lighting in the FBOs to reduce electrical consumption, converting campuses to 100% LED lighting, and using re fl ective white coating on hangar roofs to reduce heat gain in summer. Other e ff orts include electric Ground Support Equipment, Electric Vehicle charging stations, the use of biodiesel fuel for ground service equipment, and solar panel installations across key airports. The fi rst Million Air location to o ff er sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) was Million Air Burbank in June 2021. SAF is the most e ff ective way to reduce a fl ight’s carbon footprint. To quantify its bene fi t, each truckload (approximately 8,000 gallons) of SAF provides a 22-metric-ton reduction in carbon emissions over its life cycle, which is the equivalent of making fi ve passenger vehicles have zero emissions for one year. We plan to feasibly expand our SAF o ff erings at key locations across the network as production progress is made and continues to develop.
Keep ’ em fl ying...
