Warholak NamedDean of St. Louis College of Pharmacy
University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) has se lected Terri L. Warholak, RPh, Ph.D., CPHQ, FAPhA, to serve as the 16th dean of St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Her appointment as dean marks another significantmilestone for theUniversity as it works toward its vision of becoming a transformational leader in health education and research. Warholak comes to UHSP from the University of Arizona (UA) where she most recently served asAssistant Deanof AcademicAffairs andAssessment at the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. She holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy from Purdue University. In her role as Assistant Dean at UA, Warholak was the Chief Academic Officer for the College of Pharmacy andworked to advance the quality and integrity of its academic programs. Her work included providing strategic vision for the curricula and assessment, developing processes andprocedures to support accreditation processes and overseeing all program planning and program assessment. At UA, Warholak was also the track director for the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy’s Health and Pharmaceutical Outcomes Graduate Program, which trains students to evaluate the economic, clinical andhumanistic out comes of pharmaceutical products and services. Her teaching and research interests includemedication error reduction, health information technology and measure development. “We are incredibly proud to announce that Terri will serve as the 16th dean of St. Louis College of Pharmacy,” saidDavidD. Allen, RPh, Ph.D., president of UHSP. “Aswe embarked onour dean’s search this spring, wewere looking for an individual who could lead St. Louis College of Pharmacy into its bright future, andwe found a perfect match in Terri. She is a highly accomplished leader inpharmacy and health care education and researchwho has served with national pharmacy organizations and held appointments on numer ous national committees. We are so fortunate to welcome Terri to UHSP, and I can't wait to see what great things are ahead for St. Louis College of Pharmacy under her direction.” Warholak’s professional experience includes seven years serving as a com missioned officer in the United States Public Health Service, where she worked in inpatient and community practice and served for five years in the Indian Health Service. In 2003, Warholak was recognized as the winner of the American Associ ation of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Council of Faculties Innovations in TeachingCompetition for herwork titled “Applicationof QualityAssurance Principles: Reducing Medication Errors in 30 Pharmacy Practice Settings.” Following her award, the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) awardedWar holak a grant to create the Educating Pharmacists inQuality Program, which is currently used to train practicing pharmacists, health care professionals and pharmacy students in measuring, improving and reporting quality

of care in pharmacy practice. Today, she continues to be active with PQA, most recently as a member of the Education AdvisoryWorkgroup and the Research Coordinating Committee. In 2015, Warholak was named a fellow of the American Pharmacists Asso ciation. She is also activewithAACP, recently serving as anAdministrative Delegate with the House of Delegates. In addition, she serves on several national committees including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Drug Safety andRiskManagement Advisory Committee and theNational Quality Forum Scientific Methods Panel. Her research accomplishments include studies evaluating the quality of patient care, techniques for reducing medication errors and e-prescribing. During her career, Warholak has edited a book, published over 153 papers and presented at the state, national and international levels. “St. Louis College of Pharmacy has an incredibly rich history of advancing health care andpharmacy education, and I’mhonored to have been selected as its 16thdean,” saidWarholak. “As the college looks to its future, I’mexcited to have the chance toworkwith college faculty andmembers of the campus community to fortify and build on our 158-year legacy, and prepare and equip our pharmacy students to succeed as local, national and global health care leaders and innovators for many years to come.”
